2026 Birth Photography Scholarship
I believe every birthing person deserves to feel seen, supported, and remembered in their power and that birth photography should be more accessible.
That’s why, starting in 2026, I’m offering a quarterly Birth Photography Scholarship for families who are unable to afford the full cost of a birth session.
How it Works:
One scholarship will be awarded per quarter, based on my availability.
You can apply as soon as you know your estimated due date and birth location.
If I have space for your birth month, you’ll be notified directly and offered a scholarship.
Recipients receive the same full birth photography experience as my paying clients.
This scholarship is offered with the understanding that images from your birth may be shared publicly by me for marketing, educational, and promotional purposes. These images help other families see the beauty, diversity, and power of birth, and are an essential part of how I keep this scholarship program sustainable.
Rules and Conditions

Age Requirement

You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.

Due Date

Your estimated due date must fall between January 1 and December 31, 2026.

Location
-
Your intended birth location must be within my service area (found here).

Applications for births outside this area will not be considered.

Application Timing

You may apply as soon as you know your estimated due date and intended birth location.

Scholarships are awarded quarterly, based on my availability for your birth month.

Public Image Use

As a condition of receiving this scholarship, you agree that images from your birth may be shared publicly for marketing, educational, and promotional purposes.

While I will be respectful in my image selection, recipients will not have final approval over which images are shared.

Scholarship Limitations

Only one scholarship is awarded per quarter.

This is not transferable to another person, due date, or year.

Cannot be applied retroactively to an already booked session.

Availability
-
This scholarship is offered at my discretion and is dependent on my availability around the time of your due date.

If I am unavailable (due to being booked, illness, emergency, or other reasons), you will be notified as soon as possible, and your application will not be carried over to future quarters.

Other Requirements

You agree to sign my standard photography contract, model release, and any necessary hospital/birth center permissions before your due date.

You agree to notify me promptly of any changes to your due date, birth location, or care provider.

Terms, Exclusions, and Limitations:
1. The session includes up to 8 hours of birth coverage.
2. Winner must accept scholarship within 72 hours of notification or it will be considered abandoned and awarded to another applicant.
3. Scholarship is considered accepted once the Birth Photography Agreement and Model Release form is signed.
4. Travel is limited to the service area.
5. Winners will be asked to complete a Birth Photography Questionnaire.
6. Additional services (prints, albums, etc.) are not included but may be purchased separately.
8. Digital gallery provided via email within 4 weeks of actual birth.
9. Premature births or medical complications will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
10. Limit one entry per family. Multiple applications from the same family will not be considered.

Limitation of Liability: By participating in this, entrants agree to release and hold harmless The Mother Hen Friend, its affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents from any liability for any injuries, losses, or damages arising from participation in this scholarship or acceptance/use of it.
